AUDITIONS FOR JUNIOR DANCERS
SATURDAY JUNE 18TH 3PM – 4.30PM
DANCERS CHOSEN WILL USUALLY BE DOING 2 PERFORMANCES OF THE PANTOMIME ON THE SAME DAY. THERE WILL BE 2 SETS OF CHILDREN PERFORMING ON ALTERNATE DAYS. THE DIRECTOR WILL DECIDE WHICH TEAM PERFORMS ON WHICH DAYS.
THIS IS A GREAT EXPERIENCE FOR PUPILS, BUT PLEASE UNDERSTAND BEFORE THE AUDITIONS, THAT IT IS ALSO A HUGE COMMITMENT.
IT WILL MEAN PUPILS MISS OUT ON END OF TERM ACTIVITIES AT SCHOOL, SO PLEASE BE SURE THAT THEY ARE PREPARED TO DO THIS, AS THEY CAN’T OPT IN AND OUT OF WHICH SHOWS THEY DO.
** MUMS OF THE DANCERS WILL BE EXPECTED TO APPLY TO BE A REGISTERED **
NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL CHAPERONE & BE AT THE THEATRE FOR AN
EQUAL SHARE OF PERFORMANCES AND REHEARSALS AT THE THEATRE
(I ASK FOR YOUR AVAILABILITY & THEN WORK OUT A ROTA WELL IN ADVANCE)
PUPILS WHO AUDITION MUST:
-
BE AVAILABLE FOR REHEARSALS ON SATURDAY OCTOBER 22ND – TUESDAY OCTOBER 25TH IN HALF TERM
-
BE ABLE TO ATTEND REHEARSALS AT THE THEATRE FROM MONDAY NOVEMBER 28TH - FRIDAY DECEMBER 2ND INCLUSIVE, 4PM – 7PM EVERY DAY, AS THESE ARE THE FIRST REHEARSALS WITH THE ADULT CAST
-
BE ABLE TO ATTEND AN ALL DAY REHEARSAL ON SATURDAY DECEMBER 3RD AND ALL DAY EITHER MONDAY DEC. 5TH OR TUESDAY DEC. 6TH, DEPENDING ON WHICH GROUP THEY ARE IN
OTHER REHEARSALS, AFTER HALF-TERM, WILL MOSTLY BE ON SATURDAYS & SUNDAYS LEADING UP TO THE REHEARSALS AT THE THEATRE AT THE START OF DECEMBER.
DUE TO THE DATES & TIMES OF THE PERFORMANCES, DANCERS IN THE PANTOMIME WILL OBVIOUSLY NEED TO HAVE TIME OFF SCHOOL. THIS IS DONE OFFICIALLY, APPLYING FOR A PERFORMANCE LICENCE FROM NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL, AND THIS HASN’T BEEN A PROBLEM WITH ANY OF THE LOCAL SCHOOLS SINCE WE’VE BEEN INVOLVED IN THE PANTOMIME.
THE 2 SETS OF CHILDREN NEED TO MATCH UP PRETTY CLOSELY AS THEY SHARE ONE SET OF COSTUMES, SO THIS IS A FACTOR TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION AT AUDITIONS, AS WELL AS THEIR DANCE ABILITY, AND EVEN MORE IMPORTANTLY, THEIR SENSE OF PERFORMANCE.
WHAT THE PARENTS SAY:
Although on paper it may seem like a lot of hard work, being involved in Panto has been so lovely and I am really going to miss it this Christmas. Not only do you see a huge improvement in your child's confidence with their dancing and performance, but they also have so much fun with the cast and other members of their team. As a parent it's been a privilege to be part of the backstage team when chaperoning and seeing how a professional production works. It's a great opportunity and has made our family Christmas' really special over the last few years.
Such a wonderful experience for you to see your child
involved in such a fantastic production! Worth all the
running around when you see them up on stage -
lovely for the whole family.
Being a parent & helping to chaperone is really lovely. The girls all get on really well and seeing them all grow in
confidence is so nice to see. After a couple
performances the girls all know what they need
to do and when to be on stage. The senior
dancers are all really good as well and are
happy to help out when needed.
Being involved with the pantomime as a
chaperone is a really uplifting experience. Initially
my thoughts were however am I going to fit it all
in with work, home life and everything else in the
run up to Christmas, but honestly there is no need
to worry as everyone really works as a team
and helps out when needed. Jayne will make sure
beforehand to check your availability for
chaperoning duties to fit in with your busy
schedule. The cast and crew are always so
welcoming & friendly, and it's lovely to see the
girls doing what they love to do. I, for one, love it
and if it wasn't for working, would be there
chaperoning at every opportunity.
WHAT THE PUPILS SAY:
I really enjoy panto because it is an amazing and fun experience. Everyone is really kind and it's amazing being on stage and performing.
My 4 seasons in Panto have allowed me to work in a professional environment, which has really improved my confidence with performing and dance. I loved working with the professional actors and directors and it always felt like such a lovely family to be a part of. It has been the best and most fun thing I have ever done. I have also made lots of new friends backstage.
I have loved doing panto. It is lots of fun & you get to perform on the stage with the rest of the cast and get to know them, so you feel more comfortable being on stage with them all. You also get to do some acting as well as dancing. At first it's a bit scary but once you've done a couple of performances you don't want it to end.
I enjoy panto because it's something I love and commit to. Also I look forward to every practice show and I'm sad when it ends. I love to get fitted for new costumes. I've made lots of new friends and everyone is happy.
It's worth all the hard work and dedication, as it's a great experience and it's very fun!
